Site Specific Information

Thank you for choosing to work at Susquehanna’s Spring Refueling Outage. 2009

Here is some general information regarding this year’s outage:

  1. The outage is tentatively scheduled to begin April 7th,2009 The approx.outage duration is 42 days
  2. During the outage we will work six twelve’s (72 hours per week)
  3. Prior to the outage we will work five eight’s (40 hours per week) overtime on on as needed bases.

Training:

THERE IS NO LUNCH PROVIDED DURING IN-PROCESSING.YOU WILL NEED TO PROVIDE YOUR OWN LUNCH.THEY ARE ONLY GIVING YOU A 30 MIN.LUNCH BREAK & YOU WON'T HAVE TIME TO GO GET SOMETHING TO EAT.ITS ALL BAR CODE SCANNING NOW TO TRACK WHERE YOU ARE DURING IN-PROCESSING .

I will post report date and time changes if any during the months of January and February 2008.The changes will be in red lettering.

1. Training will be minimal for all returnee's during your first week here. (2 – 3 days for returnees from last outage).You will receive training at the learning center, west building & process in at the welcome trailer next to (APF)building. (Your first day of in processing starts at the welcome trailer next to the APF building) @ 06:30 AM. Your in processing traveler will tell you what you need OJT's will run into the following week of in-processing if you require any.

2. Two entrances to the plant on route 11.The entrance that has a white sign in black lettering stating access processing is the entrance you want.You will go past the learning center on your left the next building on your left is the APF.There are Only two buildings on this road.

3. In the green side bar to the right ,there are many helpful links for you during your stay here in the area.The plant is between Berwick & Dogtown west side of the road on route 11. See map in green side bar to the right.

· If you encounter any problems, will be late or can not attend training.Call me as soon as you can. My Cell 570-204-6391.You will not be paid for your late time or absent day for training

· If you have a tentative lay off date for another outage let me know. (Fill out wish list.Its combined with your Personal info form when you come to site.).
· South plant parking lot first come first serve.Spaces without signs.
· Sick or late for work call the Unit II H.P.office @ (570-542-3371) and the in Plant Bartlett Office @ (570-542-1366)As soon as possible.


Health Physics Entrance Examination: NUF & INSTRUMENT TEST

NUF EXAM:

Susquehanna:HP Technicians with less than two years experience will not be required to pass an entrance examination. All others need to pass the Nuclear Utility Fundamentals HP Technician Exam (passing score ≥80% for 3.1 & 18.1 senior tech's ) upon arrival at SSES.
The only two exceptions are:

1. You passed the Nuclear Utility Fundamentals HP Technician Exam ( ≥80% for 3.1 & 18.1 senior tech's) within the previous 5 years and have performed HP
technician duties within the last 18 months OR
2. You have your active certification with the National Registry of Radiation Protection
Technologists and have performed HP Technician duties within the last 18 months

HP INSTRUMENT TEST:

You will be given an HP Instrument multiple choice written Exam as part of your in-processing activities. Slides of various HP instruments are projected on a screen and you have to identify what the instrument is reading .IMPORTANT: Please go to the Bartlett website and on their home page there is a link to instrument study material in the same format as the Susquehanna Instrument exam.On the home page click onto training than click onto "Survey Meter Reading".Greater than or equal to 90% is the required passing grade for Juniors & Seniors.There are two different tests ,one for Juniors and one for Seniors.Your allowed to take the test twice.I will have a hand out practice test for anyone interested when you arrive on your first day of in-processing.


Things to Bring to SSES and some general information.

Identification - You will need a valid photo ID (driver’s license, Passport) and your social security card or an ORIGINAL birth certificate.

Safety Equipment - You will need ANSI Z75 steel toe shoes. If you need to purchase shoes, save your receipt as partial reimbursement is possible (Details Below). Hard hats, safety glasses, and modesty garments (scrubs) will be provided.

You are allowed here at SSES to come and go from the site with your scrubs on.

Two full service cafeteria's on site.During the outage they serve food on night shift also.



Directions to Susquehanna:

Susquehanna is located 6 miles north of Berwick on US Route 11 in northeastern Pennsylvania. All personnel should report to the Access Processing Facility at 7:00 AM on their report date

From eastern PA - Follow Interstate 80 West and take the PA-93 exit, exit number 256, towards Nescopeck/Berwick. Follow PA-93 North approximately 9 miles and take a right at US-11. Follow US-11 North approximately 5 miles to the plant.

From western PA - Follow Interstate 80 East and take the US-11 N exit, exit number 241B, towards Berwick. Follow US-11 North approximately 11 miles to the plant.

From southern PA - Follow Interstate 81 North and take the PA-93 exit, exit number 145. Turn left onto PA-93 North. Follow PA-93 North for 14 miles and take a right at US-11. Follow US-11 North approximately 5 miles to the plant.

From southern NY - Follow Interstate 81 South and take the PA-29 exit, exit number 164, towards US-11/Nanicoke. Follow PA-29 approximately 5 miles and merge onto US-11 South. Follow US-11 South approximately 15 miles to the plant.

Safety shoe and Prescription safety glasses Reimbursement form. Shoes ½
Of total up to $50.00 per year. Glasses ½ total up to $30.00 per year.

Smoking Policy:Designated Smoking areas only . Prohibited to smoke in transit from one location to another.

Call Joey Melanson ,Bartlett office @ Ext: 1272 for your travel pay,bonus,hourly rate and your Per Diem amount.

Per Diem here at SSES is paid out for actual days worked and scheduled days off.You must also work 75% of the scheduled hours in a given week to be reimbursed for Per Diem for the following weekend.

Paid holidays are Christmas,4th July,Memorial Day,Thanksgiving,New Years Day and Labor day here at SSES.Paid if you meet the criteria mentioned in the the Bartlett Safety Handbook.
